BCA Executive Director Matthew Pepe has been working with representatives from SUNY to address a $3B shortfall to the SUNY Capital Plan in Governor Cuomo’s Executive Budget, released in January.

According to SUNY representatives, the Governor’s budget falls almost 70% short of what is needed to cover critical maintenance, new projects and work on SUNY hospitals and residence halls.

A list of priority projects will be presented to the legislature in hopes of securing funding in addition to the $200m in the 2016/17 budget.  This list of priority projects includes over $70 million for SUNY campuses in the BCA region, including a new Center for Emerging Media at SUNY Purchase.

BCA and CIC will be meeting will continue to meet with legislators urging additional funding before the final budget is released.
